I received a rather concerning phone call from this number, purporting to be from HMRC. The voice on the voicemail claimed that I had initiated the call and threatened legal repercussions against me. They urged me to press 1 to connect with an officer. Curiously, I noticed the number was an 07, rather than the usual 01 or 0800 format you’d expect from HMRC. It's worth mentioning that HMRC doesn’t reach out unless you’ve made contact first. Once I got through to an so-called officer, I questioned why I was supposedly in trouble since they were the ones reaching out to me. There was an awkward silence on their end before they asked for my name and postcode to “investigate” further, at which point I decided to end the call. This entire scenario felt off, and I could sense an attempt to pull a fast one on me. Please, never share your personal information just because someone calls you from an 07 number. I consider myself fortunate to be aware of how these fraudulent calls operate after witnessing similar incidents firsthand. Always exercise caution when dealing with suspicious calls-this chap sounded like a right con artist. The number was 07417 306625.
