The callers are typically quite courteous and eager to take my number off their list, albeit a few request her current contact details and whereabouts. As far as I can tell, she resides in Manchester, and I have no connection to her or anyone in her circle whatsoever.

I simply won't pick up calls from numbers my phone identifies as spam. If someone is legit, they ought to leave a message for me. It's just more unwanted nonsense, really.
