Whenever I get those annoying calls about ‘Have you had an accident recently?’ compensation claims, I always say the same thing: “Yeah, I was in a bad accident but it was completely my fault.” I tell them I've accepted full responsibility and even decided to stop drinking because of it. Most times, they just hang up, but not always. Once, I said I was drunk and owned my mistakes, but one really pushy caller tried to convince me I could claim around £12,000 just because I had a scratch above my eye after swerving to avoid another car and smashing into a tree in someone’s garden. She insisted my drunkenness didn’t count and said I actually had two claims - one against the other driver and another against the tree owner for the damage to my car. She was so eager to get me signed up. Honestly, I think the government should just ban all cold-calling and telesales altogether. Nobody wants these calls, even if the company’s legit. Lots of people fall victim to scams because of this. So next time you get a ‘Been in an accident?’ call, just say it was your fault, or better yet, hang up and block them. And whatever you do, don’t ever give out your card info, no matter what they say!

Got a call from some place called Infinity Renewables, but it was just a robotic voice saying no one's free to talk. I instantly blocked the number, it's long forgotten now. Total spam, spam, and more spam!

Picked up a call from a firm called Infinity, who were after a woman that apparently used to have my mobile number more than a decade ago, chasing unpaid bills. Seems she often uses her old number when applying for finance, so I get calls like this quite a lot, especially around Christmas time. Most of the companies are pretty good about deleting my details once I let them know, and usually say sorry, but a few do ask for her current number and where she lives. Last I heard, she’s based in Manchester and has absolutely no connection to me or anyone I’m familiar with.

I just ignore calls flagged as spam by my phone. If it was important, they’d leave a voicemail, right? Too many random, pointless calls these days.

By the time I managed to get my phone out of my pocket, they’d already hung up on me. I got a bit curious and called back three times, but every time it just went straight to engaged tone. I reckon it’s folks like me who keep ringing, trying to figure out who’s behind the number!
