Got a recorded call saying it was from HMRC, threatening legal action because apparently a letter they sent was returned. I stayed on the line hoping to talk to someone but the hold message had an American accent which was odd. Eventually, someone "answered" - a woman with an American accent - but when I asked who I was talking to, there was just silence. I kept asking but no reply, only some vague background noise like a call centre. Then the call just dropped. Really strange experience.
