I put my car up for sale on Gumtree, and this bloke contacted me with questions about buying it for £7000. He wouldn’t ring me, only messaging, and kept pushing for my PayPal info. The account he used looked like a business one, and he called himself Anil. The whole chat felt really off - no usual back-and-forth you’d expect when selling a used car. He didn’t even want to come see it, just insisted on having it picked up. It all seemed way too dodgy, like a classic scam to me.
