I got a reply to my Gumtree listing from someone claiming they wanted the car for their daughter but said they’d only pay via PayPal. They also asked for the VIN, which seemed a bit fishy to me. Thankfully, I trusted my gut, looked up the phone number and spotted loads of similar scams linked to it.

Today someone was supposed to buy my car through Gumtree, but it turned out the same as before. It’s hard to believe. We got to the part where he asked for my details, so now he has my address. I’m really worried he might try to nick my car during the night... Fingers crossed he doesn’t.

This guy says hes disabled and wants to buy your car using PayPal, but then asks you to cover costs for some "delivery company" that will pick up the car and sort out the ownership paper. Total con.

Stay clear and block them immediately.

Just like others have said, this Mr Wolfe chap tries to buy your car saying it’s for his daughter. Then he wants to send the cash through PayPal but it's from a dodgy account, and expects you to cover the transport costs after. Definitely stay clear of this one!

I got a call from this number for a bloke called Mr Wolfe, who says he’s disabled. He claimed he wanted to purchase a car for his daughter but then sent me some dodgy PayPal details. He asked me to pay £705.00 to a transport company for collecting the car. The PayPal email he used was something like justingarcia. Definitely be careful with this one!
