I got a call supposedly from O2 about renewing my contract, but it didn’t sound like they were based in the UK at all, loads of background noise so I just ended the call. I only use a sim-only plan and just renewed recently, so I knew straight away it wasn’t legit. Also, the number they called from was a mobile, which seemed a bit dodgy.

My phone gave me a warning it might be a dodgy number, but since there was a tiny chance it was a publisher interested in my writing, I decided to pick up. The lady on the line spoke with a strong accent and claimed she was from a mobile company, telling me my contract had ended and I could get a new one. I kept saying no and made it clear I don’t entertain cold calls at least five separate times, but she just wouldn’t give up. When I hinted at it being a scam, she didn’t even hang up like they usually do. Eventually, I just told her ‘bye’ and ended the call.
