Just so you know, I got a dodgy text from a mobile number saying someone had tried to purchase an Orange phone using my bank card, but the payment was declined. The message wanted me to reply “YES” or “NO” to verify the purchase. What really made me suspicious was that it had the last four digits of my actual bank card, which almost made it look legit. Do NOT respond to texts like this - it’s a type of scam called smishing. Replying could confirm your number’s active, making you a target for more scams. I’ve reported it and informed my bank already. If you get something similar, I’d advise you to do the same. If you’re worried about your details being compromised, maybe check out CIFAS Protective Registration. Be careful out there and share this warning with others!

I decided to ring Lloyds myself and after a bit of a wait, I got through. They called me earlier about a suspicious attempt on my debit card. I told them to just leave a note on the Lloyds Bank site next time so I can check properly. Honestly, not very happy with Lloyds here. Anyway, they’re sending me a new debit card now. I reckon the scammers timed it for a Sunday, knowing it’s harder to reach the Fraud team since most people aren’t in the office then. Oh, and heads up - the Lloyds fraud number isn’t a free call either.

Got a call saying my card was used today, and somehow they knew my phone number plus last 4 digits of my debit card. Tried calling my bank for ages, like 30 minutes straight, but couldn’t get through on this Sunday. Feels like a proper clever scam to me, these fraudsters are getting craftier.

I got a text saying it’s from Halifax Bank asking me to reply YES or NO about some blocked charge. It just felt off somehow, so I’m pretty sure it’s a scam and didn’t respond.

Got loads of calls from this number all day today, kept urging me to press buttons and get through to some call centre. They said there were transactions on my bank account. Total scam, just blocked them straight away.

Got a call claiming to be from my bank, saying there was some suspicious use of my card. Sounded dodgy to me, so I didn’t give out any details. Probably just a scam trying to trick people.
