07401067470 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 07401067470 👆 is reported as linked to both genuine fraud prevention alerts and sophisticated scams impersonating major UK banks such as Lloyds, Halifax, MBNA, and Bank of Scotland. Users have experienced authentic texts warning of suspicious activity on their cards, often followed by scam messages or calls attempting to extract confirmation or personal information. Scam callers have proved convincing, sometimes citing partial card details and recent transactions to build trust. Many advise verifying any communication by independently contacting the bank using official phone numbers. The number is associated with spoofing incidents, making it difficult to determine the legitimacy of calls or texts. Vigilance is crucial: do not respond directly to suspicious messages, always confirm with your bank through secure channels, and report any fraudulent contact.

Just like a few others have said, I bought something on eBay and then got a message asking about the payment. I replied 'yes' but only noticed afterwards that the message showed a phone number instead of my bank’s name. I’ve blocked the number and marked it as spam now. Paid through PayPal to be safe instead.

Got a dodgy text from those scammers too, and somehow they had my credit card details. The message was full of bad English, so I just didn’t bother replying.

Actually, they only had the final four numbers.

Honestly, this call was genuinely from Lloyds this time. If you’re unsure, just check the message they sent afterwards - it mentioned you’d get a follow-up text and showed the last four digits of your card. I hadn’t touched my card in more than two years, but somehow a charge popped up for Kindle Services. The weird part is, I don’t even own a Kindle!

This one was a bit sneaky and came in two steps. First, I got a genuine text from Halifax telling me to watch out for another message coming through soon. Then, this popped up: Halifax Credit card ending 8280 was used at Kindle Svcs on 04-02-2023 07:17:36 for £2.69 but was declined. Please reply YES if this was you, or NO if it wasn't, else future card payments might be blocked. What freaked me out was how they managed to send the original legit-looking Halifax message. It made their scam text look convincing since it came from what I thought was a trusted Halifax number.

On the 28th of December 2022, my mobile received a text from the number 44 0740 106 7470 claiming to be Lloyds Bank. The message said that my credit cards had been compromised and that they'd phone me later to check it wasn't me making the transactions. True to their word, a man named Richard Knight rang my home landline and explained in detail how my cards had supposedly been used in Scotland. He sounded really believable and seemed to understand how the Lloyds Bank fraud team operate. Unfortunately, I later discovered that this was all a scam and he'd tricked me.

Pretty much the same thing happened to me, but mine was on 28th December 2022. A bloke rang from someone claiming to be the Lloyds Bank Fraud department saying my credit cards had been used in Scotland or something like that. He spun a clever tale that made me worry I'd been targeted, and that he was calling to help fix it. I quickly got in touch with the genuine Lloyds Fraud team and it turned out I’d been conned. Not a nice thing to go through, so watch out if you get a call like that from this dodgy number.

Someone rang me up claiming to be from Halifax’s fraud department, but it was totally fake. Watch out for that sort of scam!

When I got a text from this number claiming to be from MBNA, I wasn't totally sure if it was legit so I called MBNA myself. They confirmed to me that the message was actually from them, so it turned out to be genuine after all. If you're ever doubtful, I'd say just ring your bank to check.

I'd say this is most likely a scam. They claimed to be from Halifax, saying a £24.42 payment to Etisalat Quickpay was rejected. Also, just a heads up - anyone could post here pretending it’s legit, so don’t trust it just because you see it written in the comments!

It's crazy, but Lloyds Bank won't say if the number's genuine or a scam. You'd think they'd be able to help out to keep their customers safe, but nope, no answer from them!

I got a call from someone saying they were from Halifax's fraud prevention team, saying they spotted some dodgy activity on my account. Thing is, I don’t even have an account with Halifax. Bit strange if you ask me.

Somebody must of got hold of my credit card info and used it hundreds of miles away from where I live. They had already rang my mobile and landline pretending to be Halifax. Luckily, my bank sent me a text about suspicious activity just in time and I called their fraud team right away. They told me the card will get cancelled and I’ll get my money back. Meanwhile, those scammers were still trying to make purchases with my card.

Just a heads up after reading some comments - if you get a call from this number, it's best to ring your bank back using the number on your card not the one they give you. These fraudsters are really clever and clone legit bank numbers to trick people. They’re quite skilled, so it’s not always easy to figure out if the call is real or just another scam. Stay cautious, folks.

I checked with Halifax and they said this number is genuine. However, I'd still be careful and try reaching out through their online chat or a different phone number just to be safe.

Somebody rang me saying they were from Lloyds, gave some info about me and asked me to say yes or no to a question about a recent buy. Then a different number called me with a recorded voice saying my name and telling me to ring them back. I ended up phoning Lloyds on their normal number and they said it wasn’t them and that I might be dealing with a scam.
