Just got a text saying there's a new payee added to my HSBC account with a link to click on. Sounds fishy to me, probably a scam. Definitely not clicking it!

Got a message saying a new payee was added to my HSBC account, with a link to click if I hadn’t authorised it. Even though I bank with HSBC, I instantly knew it was dodgy, so I rang them up. They told me they would never send links like that and would only ask for a yes or no reply to confirm anything. They took the info from the text to pass on to their fraud team. I then tried calling back the number that sent the message, keeping my own number hidden, but just got a recorded message saying it wasn’t possible to connect.

Turned out to be a total scam trying to steal personal info. Don’t click on that link - it could grab sensitive stuff off your phone, tablet or laptop.

I just received a text from this number saying someone added a new payee to my bank account. It told me to check it out at some link starting with #Jacountpayee or something. Ive never seen NatWest send me messages with this sort of number before, especially not one starting with +44 which makes it look like it’s overseas. I’m pretty sure this is a scam, so heads up, don’t get tricked by it!

Natwest just messaged me saying they added a new payee on my account today. I didn’t do anything so I’m pretty sure this is some kind of scam. Be careful, looks dodgy. Report as spam!
