I received a rather alarming call telling me to press 1, claiming I had an outstanding tax payment. The voice, sounding unmistakably American, warned that if I failed to settle the dues, a police officer would be dispatched to take me into custody. I swear I've encountered this accent before; it felt rather familiar.

It’s just like those other calls - a pre-recorded spiel about some imagined tax fraud, demanding immediate payment or else I'll supposedly have an officer knocking at my door to arrest me. What utter nonsense!
