Got a call claiming my SIM card had expired or something, said it was from EE. Sounds dodgy to me, probably just a scammer trying it on.

Not sure what to do here - whenever I get a call from an unknown number, I just keep quiet and see if anyone talks first. This tricks a few scam calls into disconnecting since many call centres drop the call if there’s no one speaking. After about 5 seconds of silence, an automated voice came on saying "Goodbye" and then the call was over. It’s not foolproof but it helps a bit.
