Be careful, they try to reach you on Schpock and tell you to get in touch by email. They act like you’ve sold your stuff already and then ask for your PayPal info, saying a courier is going to collect it.

ellen loudin [email protected] - kept telling me about buying something for her cousin on Shpock, said she’s hard of hearing and uses a wheelchair, and that a courier would collect it. Wanted to pay through PayPal but it all seemed fishy, so I looked her up on Google and felt glad I did.

07393 167980 Just got a call from someone calling herself Emily Dennison, claiming I owe £411 to some courier and asking for £261 for a present for her cousin. She kept saying she’s stuck in a wheelchair and can’t get to the bank because of COVID - that’s when I realised it smelled fishy. There was nothing in my PayPal to cover any of it. I told her to sort payment with the courier herself and said I’m relisting the item since there’s no money in my PayPal either. I’ve blocked all her emails and changed passwords on my email and PayPal just to be safe. Watch out for this one!

Just had a someone called Ellen Loudin offer me 441 for something that’s supposed to be worth 180. She claims she’s deaf and needs a wheelchair, and says she’ll send her own driver to pick it up. Sounds exactly like the usual scam. Stay away from this one!

That email [email protected][###]. I've found at least half a dozen Gmail accounts all using the exact same trick to con people out of money, mainly on Shpock. They always ask for courier fees upfront but it goes directly into their bank. It’s crazy they’ve managed to carry on for more than two months with no police action yet.

I got tricked by someone pretending to buy a sofa bed for her cousin as a gift, asking for my PayPal details and all. Wish I’d checked this site earlier because they kept asking for payments to various delivery services, which was a big red flag. Only after looking more closely at the info they gave me did I realise I’d been conned, silly me. Fingers crossed my bank can sort it out.

Rebecca Johnson - [email protected][###] Told me the usual tale about being in a wheelchair, deaf and blind, and shielding from Covid-19. Gave a home address as 19 Ringwood Road, Eastbourne BN22 8TA. Something didn’t sit right so I looked it up and ended up on this site. Glad I did!

Got an email from someone called Emily Dennison, same excuse - deaf, in a wheelchair, buying a gift for her cousin, asking to pay through PayPal for a Shpock listing. Seems off to me, especially as it wasn’t done directly through Shpock. Luckily I looked her up on Google and came across this, saved me from a scam!

Got a call from someone named Emily Dennison at [email protected][###], and honestly, it felt dodgy straight away. She said she was in a wheelchair and can’t hear, supposedly shielding from COVID-19, and wanted to send a courier to pick up a parcel from me. Then she asked for my PayPal email and the name linked to it. Thankfully, I trusted my gut and did a bit of digging first - turns out it’s a total scam, just like others have mentioned. Glad I didn’t fall for it!

The name was different but everything else matched perfectly, it was Emily Dennison [email protected][###], and the address was the same too. Same kinda scam but done through email, they asked for my PayPal details, claimed it was a gift for their cousin in a wheelchair, mentioned covid-19, and said they'd send a courier to collect it. Obviously just after my email and PayPal info to get access to other things. I even looked up the address on Google Maps and checked the pictures, so beware!

The name was different but the message was identical, same email from Emily Dennison [email protected][###]. Using the same address too. The scam just came through email this time, they asked for my PayPal details under the guise of buying a present for a cousin who’s in a wheelchair and mentioned covid 19. They said they’d send a courier to collect it but it’s obvious this person wanted the PayPal info to get access to other accounts. Just a heads up, I even checked the location on Google Maps and the picture was suspicious. Watch out for this one!

On 12/10/20 I got a dodgy email from someone saying they were ellen loudin. They said they wanted to buy an item on Shpock and pay full price, but it seemed fishy to me. So I looked her name up on Google and stumbled across this forum thread, which cleared things up.

This person called Ellen Loudin got in touch saying she wanted to purchase my sofa on Shpock for her cousin. She said her cousin is disabled, uses a wheelchair and can’t hear, and she was willing to pay the full amount. She kept pushing to organise a courier and only wanted to chat via email. It raised red flags so I looked it up here and found others had similar suspicions. She used the address 19 Ringwod Road Eastbourne BN22 8TA but I ended up blocking the number. I’m glad i checked because I might’ve lost money otherwise. Big thanks to everyone who shared their experiences!

About an hour back, a lady called me with the same story using the exact same words. She said she needed to get an Orthopaedic chair for her cousin and wanted to send a courier because of covid, saying she couldn't get it herself. Big thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences, I really hope no one else gets tricked by her nonsense. Is there any way to stop this woman from doing this?

here’s one more. [email protected][###] .i’m really keen on this and would like to confirm it’s sold to me, please cancel any other viewings as i’m ready to pay your full price as it’s a birthday present for my cousin, [...]. Could you also send your PayPal details and registered name so i can make the payment immediately? My address is 19 Ringwood Road, Eastbourne BN22 8TA.

Someone called Ellen Loudin just messaged me on Shpock, offering to pay my full asking price for something I’m selling. She gave a similar story as others here - said she’s disabled, would pay via PayPal and sort out her own courier. It sounded a bit dodgy, so I decided to look it up. Can anyone share what happened if you’ve actually gone through with it? What’s the trick with this one? Cheers for any info, really appreciate this discussion!

Got a message on WhatsApp from someone claiming to be into the item I had on Gumtree. I always like to check numbers on Google first and found loads of reviews saying it was shady. Told the bloke all about what folks were saying, and then he just blocked me. I’m not old, so I’m pretty clued up about dodgy stuff online, but I reckon older people might get caught out. So yeah, watch out for stuff like this!

Really happy I came across this post. Someone reached out to me on Shpock from [email protected][###] with an offer, but it felt off. Seems like they're up and running again using the email eltonrichie77@gmail[###}. Luckily I spotted this discussion before I went ahead and accepted an offer on Shpock. They sent another offer but weirdly asked to move all communication over to email, which feels off since nothing would be logged in the app. The Shpock profile even uses the email name elton richie. Definitely smells fishy.

A person named Sandijs Ukavics pretended to be someone called Ellen Loudin on Shpock. They asked me to transfer £3000 to a bank for some courier service, explaining that Ellen is both deaf and in a wheelchair, so she can’t go to the bank herself. I’ve already passed on the details to the appropriate authorities.

You’re just a scammer, plain and simple, trying to fool folks out of money they've worked hard for. Honestly, you should feel ashamed. But I guess people like you don’t care about others at all. I hope someday you get a taste of the same trickery you tried on me. Luckily, I was smarter than you. And about that sob story you used about being disabled - you picked the wrong person to mess with. I’m disabled too, and your story just sounded off from the start. Hopefully, one day you’ll get caught and sent back where you came from.

So theres this person called Sandijs Ukavics connected to a Sphock profile under Joy C. They send emails pretending to be from Paypal but actually use a gmail address. Then they say you paid too much and try to get you to send money for delivery fees. Its really awful, they're just trying to scam genuine folks out of cash.

I got a call from someone pretending to be a courier called Sandijs Ukavics, telling me I needed to pay for a delivery service because apparently, I’d received money via PayPal for something I sold on Sphock. They even sent me an email that looked like a PayPal payment confirmation, but it was completely fake. The buyer on Sphock went by Elton R and used an email address similar to eltonrochie77@gmailf###] - watch out, this email is definitely linked to scams.
