I reported it to the Police, and they advised me to get in touch with Action Fraud either online or on 0330 1232040. The more reports they get, the better chance they have to build a solid case that the Police can take further. Don’t let these crooks trick anyone, especially those who might be more trusting and could lose money!

Someone called Julie from my job sent me a text, then messaged again a week later.

Someone claiming to be a mate with a new number rang me. I double checked because I know three girls called Julie, so I asked which one it was before saving the contact. They said they were ringing from work but strangely seemed to know my name. I saved the number but didn’t think much of it. Then, three days later, they asked if I could lend them some cash! I asked for more details, like if they worked with me, what exactly my role was... then the number got blocked. Deleted straight away! Total scammer!

Somebody called me and said I should erase a number from my phone and keep theirs instead. Coincidentally, I do have a mate with that name, but it was all just rubbish really.
