Got a message from Halifax saying a new payee was added to my account. It said if I didn’t do it, to get in touch and cancel through the Halifax link they gave. Seemed a bit suspicious to me, so I didn’t click anything and called them directly just to be safe. Better to double check than get caught out!

Just got a weird text pretending to be Halifax saying someone added a new payee on my account. There was a suspicious link in the message too. The thing is, I don’t even have an account with Halifax. Definitely a scam.

Got a message from +44 7391 886927 saying something about a new payee being added to my Halifax account. It said if I didn’t do this, I should cancel with Halifax right away using a link they gave: cancel-payelink[###]. Seems pretty suspicious to me, looked dodgy for sure. It came through on Thursday, 25th March 2021. Wouldn’t trust it!
