Got a text from a mobile number pretending to be the DWP, saying I need to apply for the energy support scheme. The message said something like: “DWP Alert: You haven’t applied yet for the 2024-2025 energy allowance. Our records show you might qualify for a grant between £200 and £300. You must apply by 6th June 2025. Applications after this date won’t be accepted.” It included a link: https://rebrand.ly/f53796?lyh=uIIYyl, which definitely isn’t an official DWP website. Seemed fishy to me, so I didn’t click it. Just thought I’d warn others!
