A bloke rang claiming to be from HMRC, told me I'd done tax fraud and threatened I'd be nicked if I didn’t hit 1. Proper dodgy it sounded.

I just got a call claiming to be from HMRC, saying there’s a tax fraud issue with my name and that they’re going to have me arrested. Honestly, it was quite frightening if you don’t know these scams are going around!

My missus got a dodgy call from some robot claiming she owed tax money and would be nicked if she didn’t pay up right away. The guy pretended to be from HMRC and told her to send £700 on the spot or the cops would be round within an hour. Total rubbish, obviously. We just blocked the number.

Classic HMRC scam with one of those recorded messages. I bet they’re using a fake number to trick people into answering. If they manage to fool even one person, they can end up clearing out their whole bank balance, making a tidy profit. Everyone knows about these scams now, but it’s worrying thinking about elderly or vulnerable folks who might fall for it.

Somebody rang saying it was a tax refund from HMRC, but I know they call it ‘rebates’ not refunds. Definitely sounds like a dodgy scam to me. Wouldn’t trust it one bit!
