Funny thing is, I don’t even have an account with them.
Message had no sender info, no reference, nothing useful.
Definitely a scam. Blocked the number straight away.

I got a call from someone who said they were with British Gas retention team. They made sure to say who they were and even went over some deals to keep me as a customer. Shame their prices weren’t really any better though.

Just got a call from a Matt pretending to be from British Gas trying to offer me a discount to stay with them even tho I've already signed up to switch to another supplier. I checked with British Gas through their online chat and they told me they hadn’t sent any texts or tried to contact me, so I reckon this was a scam.

I called British Gas to double check and they confirmed they wouldn’t send any texts about keeping me as a customer. Their promos usually come through the post or other normal ways, not from a text message without their name on it. When they do text, their name is always clear.

Got a text from 07378905419 supposedly from Matt at British Gas, leaving a lengthy message asking me to call or text back. I reached out to British Gas via their online chat and they told me they never sent that message. They warned me not to reply as it looks like a scam. They also asked if I could screenshot the message and send it to them at [email protected][###] so they can investigate and stop these fake texts from going to customers.

Has anyone else actually got a credit from them? They claim to be British Gas and say they'll give you a credit. But it's been like two months now, and I still haven't seen a penny from them. Just curious if anyone had better luck.

I got a call from someone claiming to be British Gas. They sounded proper official but I wasn't convinced so I asked a few questions. Turned out to be one of those dodgy callers trying to get info. Always best to double check before you give anything away.

Yeah it’s legit. Got a text from Matt at BG’s retention team since I was thinking about changing my energy supplier. He was letting me know about a 16% discount if I stayed and moved to a new plan. You won’t hear about this deal from regular customer service unless they pass you over to retention. Don’t worry, it’s all proper. My first bill arrived and the discount was actually applied.

So I got a call from a bloke named Matt, saying he was from British Gas. He kept calling me "Mr Stuart Draper" and was going on about me wanting to leave British Gas. Not sure if they've dialled the wrong number or if it's just some dodgy scam.
