Got a few messages from this number about a Gas Engineer coming round, which I just deleted straight away. I usually only deal with British Gas via their official site, so it felt a bit dodgy. Got loads of calls from someone claiming we had some unpaid bills that were blocking us from switching away from British Gas. They asked for our account number, then after that our meter readings stopped showing up properly, maybe it was something to do with their system? It’s not a premium number or anything dodgy, but if you don’t have unlimited texts on your phone plan (which most people probably do now), you could end up paying for each SMS you send back.

Got a call saying it was EDF about a dodgy smart meter. They knew my name and said they could verify my account number. Felt really fishy so I just ended the call. Now I’m just waiting for EDF to tell me if it was a scam or not.

Got a txt from 07378905145 asking me to rate my recent British Gas experience. Seemed a bit dodgy cos it was from a mobile and not their usual number. Decided to block it and ignored the message. Felt weird getting that from an unknown phone.

A woman rang me claiming that British Gas were nearby and offering a boiler servicing. I didn’t mention that I don’t have mains gas, so I quickly realised it was a con. The number she called from was 0333 202 9470. If I’d said yes, I could’ve ended up with a scammer inside my home! Since then, I’ve received two survey invites from the same number.

Received a message from this number saying it was Santander and that there was a strange login attempt on my account. The text had a link which I didn’t open and definitely won’t be clicking on after seeing what others have said here!
