I just noticed a missed call from this number on my phone.

Some woman called to say my son’s been taxed way too much. Thing is, he’s not employed and doesn’t get any benefits or anything.

There’s a downright disgraceful tax scheme that seems to be preying on vulnerable individuals, particularly those with disabilities. They’re also making an audacious attempt to seize control of higher education institutions.

"Hello, how's your day going?" "May I ask who this is?" "I'm reaching out about a query you made about tax refunds." "I'm fine cheers, bit tied up at work right now." "I can ring you again when you're free if you'd like." "No, thank you, I'm not interested." Not sure how they managed to get my details or even my name, but you could tell it was some busy call centre in the background.

Not sure if they purposely went quiet or if it was just accidental, but either way, it felt a bit odd.

Got a call supposedly about them refunding me some tax from a PPI claim. Thing is, I never even made a PPI claim, and they couldn’t explain what tax they were talking about anyway. Felt a bit dodgy to me.
