Got a text saying SANTANDER BANK: There was an attempt to transfer £amount from your account near Swindon. It asked me to ring them straight away if I hadn’t approved it, with this number 0330 133 4135 REF: GY721. I didn’t bother calling the number but rang my bank directly, and they said it was definitely a scam.

This number has been linked to dodgy characters operating on UK and international dating platforms, like Zoosk. It starts innocently enough with some banter on WhatsApp, but then, out of the blue, they mention a trip to China for work. Not long after, the sob story emerges-they’ve supposedly been robbed and are now pleading for £1,000 to secure a ticket back home. Total scam!
