Got a recorded call claiming to be from HMRC, saying I was under investigation for tax problems, the usual trick about getting arrested. I hit 1 just to mess around with them (I always make up a fake name and address, and try to keep them chatting so they don’t waste time scamming others). They asked for my name, so I said “John Smith,” then they wanted my national insurance number - never had that one before in these calls. I refused to share it, saying I didn’t want to, and they ended the call straight away. Definitely a scam attempt.
