On the first of June 2021, around half eight in the morning, my phone rang with a call from this number. A chap with a distinctly British twang introduced himself as being affiliated with HM Revenue and Customs. He went on to explain that I was under investigation due to some issue that needed urgent attention. He insisted that I must press “1” on my keypad without delay. Quite alarming, to say the least!
