My phone buzzed briefly, maybe 2 seconds tops, then went dead. Looks like this is becoming a common trick, probably just to see if the number’s active. I wouldn’t trust anyone who does that, so I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number.

I picked up but they hung up straight away - so irritating!

Someone rang me pretending to be from a phone company warning that my SIM card was about to get blocked and that they’d post me a new one. They pushed me really hard and tried to get me to confirm personal info. Sounds exactly like one of those SIM swap scams where scammers try to hijack your phone number. Genuine mobile firms wouldn’t ever ask for private details like that out of the blue, so I cut the call straight away and blocked the number.

Some bloke rang up saying he was from Vodaphone, but when I mentioned I was with Lebara, which actually runs independently as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), not part of Vodaphone, he seemed a bit off. He claimed I’d earned a 45% discount on my monthly mobile bill for being a loyal customer and then asked how much I usually pay each month. I told him straight away I wasn’t going to talk about money stuff, hung up, and blocked the number. Smells like a rookie scammer to me.
