Got a text from an unknown number that looked a bit suspicious. Didn’t bother clicking the link to find out what it was, didn’t want to take any chances. The message said something like: "NATIONWIDE: You got a new payee request for R Davies via your Nationwide app. If that’s not you, go here: https://secure-payeeremoval-attempt.com". Seemed fishy to me.

Over the past few days I've gotten a couple of texts. One said it was from Nationwide bank saying someone named R Davies was now linked to my account. The other looked like it was from Paypal. Both seemed a bit fishy to me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Lloyds bank about a new payee, same story as loads of others have mentioned. Number was 44 7378 149289. Pretty sure it’s the same scam going around.

Like some of you, I got a message about a new payee being added for R Davies on an HSBC account, but I don’t even have an account with HSBC! Glad I found this thread, cheers everyone for the info.

Just got a text from 07449 368 722 saying something about a new payee called R Davies on HSBC. Thing is, I don't bank with HSBC at all, so I didn’t bother clicking any link and just binned the message straight away. Pretty sure it’s one of those scams!

Got a text saying a new payee called R Davies was added on 29/04/20 through Nationwide. The message told me if I didn’t do this to log in and cancel via a link : nationwide[###].request-for-new-payee[###]. Don’t click the link, looks like a scam. It came from phone number 07307082499.

Got a text from Nationwide from the 8265 number about setting up a new payee for someone called R Davies. They said if it wasn’t me to click a link. The link looked pretty real, which made me a bit uneasy.

Got a text claiming to be from Nationwide about a new payee added to R Davies. Said if I didn’t authorise it, go to some website pretending to be Nationwide. Lucky I checked online first and found loads of reports saying it’s a scam. Just deleted it straight away.

Got a text on 9th April 2020 round about 2.19pm saying something like "nationwide:new payee added to your account r davies if this wasnt you you need to login quick and cancel it, hit up: nationwidef###]fraud-dept{###]". Obviously I ignored the link since it looked dodgy, plus I don’t even have a Nationwide account so it was clear a scam.

Just got a msg from Nationwide saying a new payee called R Davies was added to my account. I didn’t ask for that at all. The text said if I wasn’t the one who did it, I should log in quick and cancel it. It also gave a link that looked a bit dodgy like [#Jnationwide(###] fraud-depti###). Feels a bit fishy to me.

I got a call from Nationwide saying they'd added a new payee to my account called R Davies. I texted back something like, "Really? Hasn't he already been paid?" Turns out, it's a total scam. When I opened the link on a different computer, it showed a login page. Definitely don't enter your real info. I tried with fake details and, shocker, it went through. Best thing is to just ignore these dodgy messages.

On 09/04/2020 around 3:39 pm, I got a text claiming 'Nationwide: a new payee named R Davies has been added to your account. If this wasn’t you, login immediately and cancel it. Fraud dept [###].' I don’t even bank there. The website it linked to looked almost identical to Nationwide’s real site, but it wanted loads of personal info. The message was full of spelling mistakes. I reported it to Nationwide using the email form on their official site. The number the message came from was blocked.

Got a text tonight, 7th April 2020, around 7:39 pm. It said something like hsbc:new payee mr ¢ jones has been added to your account via mobile banking. I don’t even have an HSBC account!
