If it’s that O2 scam going around, they tend to talk about doing some "security check" and then text you a code to repeat to them. What’s really happening is they’re using the "forgot password" option on your O2 account, then getting you to read out the two-factor code. Once they have that, they can get into your account, change the password and cause all sorts of havoc.
