Got a call from a guy named Daniel, sounded like he might be Indian or Pakistani, claiming to be with the Telephone Preference Management Team. I didn’t even let him get a word out before telling him he was a scammer and hanging up straight away.

Got a call earlier today from a bloke who already had my name and address. He claimed to be from the Telephone Preference Service and mentioned they’d gotten quite a few reports about unwanted marketing calls still happening. He then tried to check if I’m still paying BT via direct debit, which I didn’t want to answer, as it seemed odd. After I refused to confirm, he just ended the call. Felt fishy, so I labelled the number as ‘risky’ since he sounded pretty convincing and I’m not sure what kind of scam was going on.

Got a call from an Asian lady claiming it was about the Telephone Preference Service. She wanted me to verify some personal info, then asked when my Visa card was due to expire. I wasn’t comfortable sharing that and didn’t answer. After that, she just cut the call off.

The bloke on the phone knew both my name and where I live, and claimed I’d signed up for some ‘call barring’ thing. When I asked him to explain how I supposedly registered, he just ended the call straight away!

Got a call from some bloke pretending to be from the TPS, saying I needed to pay to renew a service that’s meant to be free. The guy had an Asian accent and quickly dropped the call once I showed I was onto his scam. Classic TPS scam really.

Some dodgy 12 digit number kept ringing me, so I answered just to tell them to quit spamming my phone with rubbish calls like that. I had a laugh and told them if they stopped calling, there’d be one less annoying ring. Then they just went silent and hung up.

Got a call where they wanted my debit card info, saying my number was picked from some directory. Total scam about blocking calls. Best thing to do? Just put the phone down!

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be from Sky, said they were stopping spam calls or something. Knew my name and started asking for my credit card info. I just hung up straight away.

Got a call from a woman who said her name was Kate, her accent was quite strong, I think Indian. She asked if she could speak to me by name, claiming it was about some sort of call blocking service I have. Totally a scam though, so I just told her to buzz off.

So, apparently there’s a “call blocking service” calling me, and they actually asked for me by my name! Sounds dodgy to me, definitely some sort of scam going on here.

Beware of S#### scams, they won’t share any info and never confirm any names. Legit business stuff should only happen face to face. Don’t try to pull a fast one without looking me in the eye first.

Some bloke called Robin saying he was from a call blocking company and wanted to upgrade my service. He asked for my personal info, but his English had a strong accent and he didn’t get a bit of sarcasm I threw at him. Definitely felt like a dodgy scam attempt.

No voicemail left on my answerphone, so probably some sort of scam or telemarketer. The number was 12 digits long, definitely not a UK mobile. Seemed a bit suspicious, so I flagged it as potentially unsafe.
