Good thing my call blocker caught this one - labelled it as a scam right away. Still, I decided to check the number out and it’s shocking what kind of tricks these scammers pull. They really need to be stopped for sure.

The phone rang and I answered but said nothing. After a bit, someone asked for me using a name I go by, though it's not my official name. They didn't even say it right though, so I just told them no one by that name lives here. They then just ended the call.

Got a call meant for someone who doesn’t even live here. The person started pushing some life insurance offer straight away. I told them I already have insurance with L&G, then they claimed they "partner" with L&G. Yeah right, I don’t believe that for a second, so I just ended the call.

If you’re fed up with these scammers fleecing the vulnerable and pestering everyone else, there’s actually something you can do about it. It does take a bit of graft, but I’ve been regularly reporting scam calls and texts to the police’s database (I’ve even bookmarked the address). It won’t solve the problem overnight, but if thousands of us keep sending these reports in, maybe things will change. Loads of people on this site add their reports every day - nothing drastic happens straight away, but if we just sit back and do nothing, these scams will just carry on unchecked.

Got a call about some life insurance thing, they knew my name but had no clue how old I was. I told them I’m moving out of the UK soon and honestly, I don’t even know anything about any life insurance policy. After that, she just gave up and said have a nice day. Honestly, I wish I’d just let the call go to voicemail.

Answered the call and the bloke already had my name. He asked if I had life insurance from Royal London or something similar. I told him I didn’t have RL specifically, but he said he was only using that as an example. He started talking about some options I might have, but I told him I’m already covered and don’t actually live in the UK. When he asked where I did live, I said somewhere in the EU, then he just abruptly ended the call. Seemed a bit dodgy, like a scam to me.

There was a lot of noise going on, and the bloke kept yelling to someone else. He said hello about three times before he even spoke to me. He knew my first name, but when I asked who he was, he just said it was regarding Life Insurance. I ended the call straight away.
