Received a message out of the blue saying ‘Hello: Are you working?’ I answered with ‘That depends, who’s this?’ They came back with ‘I’m Ella, how come you didn’t save my number?’ I just ignored it after that.

Don't bother replying to scam texts, it only lets them know your number is active. If you get dodgy messages, send them over to 7726. You can also take a screenshot or copy the message and email it to '[email protected]'. This is part of a government and police effort, alongside Ofcom, to track and look into suspicious calls, texts, emails, websites, and adverts. If you want to learn more, just search for 7726 or have a look at the phishing section on the National Cyber Security Centre's site: 'https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/collection/phishing-scams'.
