Got a random call from some unknown number, seemed like a scam to me. How on earth did they manage to find my phone number? Proper dodgy!

I got a call from someone claiming to be Vodafone, but the background was super noisy, like a busy call centre or something, so I couldn’t really catch what they were saying. When I told them I don’t even have Vodafone, they just said “alright, goodbye” and hung up.

I suspect these calls are from a power dialer trying to gather info for a vishing scam. They ring a bunch of numbers quickly to see who answers and if they can trick anyone. Feels like someone's setting up a social engineering attack. Just be careful if they call you, it’s probably not legit.

If I don’t recognise the number, I usually just let it ring and don’t pick up. When this one rang, I didn’t even bother answering and just ended the call straight away.

I picked up and said "hello, this is xxxx," then the person on the other end said "oh, sorry, I must have dialled the wrong number," and hung up straight away.
