Today I thought I’d actually have a proper chat. The bloke claimed to be from Citizens Advice. When I asked which branch, he said Middlesex. I told him Middlesex hasn’t been a county for ages - usually I wouldn’t indulge scammers but I was a bit curious this time. He said something about financial matters and insisted he could only talk to Toni Skelton. I don’t know anyone by that name, so I asked him to prove he was from Citizens Advice by confirming my address. Straight after that, he hung up. Seems like a well-organised scam, using different callers but sticking to the same story for years.
