I got a call from a bloke claiming to be from BT tech support, saying my internet would be disconnected in a day because they’d spotted hacking on my router. It sounded a bit off and he kept telling me to press certain numbers on my phone. Pretty sure it was some bot trying to scam me.

Right after I picked up, a recorded message started warning me that my broadband would be cut off in 24 hours. It told me to press 1 to speak to BT if I wanted to avoid it. Since my broadband isn’t with BT, I just ended the call. But even if you are a BT customer, don’t press any buttons - just get in touch with BT through their official contact methods. I’m pretty certain this is a scam, and hitting a number might connect you to a premium-rate line or something that’ll charge you.
