This bloke, sounded like he was from up north, was going on about me having a PPI payout from about five years back and that HMRC were after me for tax on it. I asked him to name the company a couple of times, but all he did was mumble and never made it clear. I told him straight up that I've never even had a credit card, not once. Then he tries to say maybe it was from a store card or one of those catalogue things paying out PPI. I said nope, never had any of that either. After that, he said he'd sort his records out and then just hung up on me. Strange call, really.

Someone called me pretending to be from HMRC, said I owed tax on a PPI refund I got. Thing is, they only had a previous address of mine, not my actual one. Plus, I know that when you get a PPI refund, they take 20% tax off it before it reaches you anyway. I told the caller that if I did owe anything, I’d expect a proper letter sent to my current home, not just a phone call. That seemed to throw them off, there was just awkward silence and mumbling before I ended the call.

Got a call from some guy working in a call centre, sounded proper Northern, saying he was from some firm called YouClaim or something, telling me I had some tax refund coming. Seemed a bit fishy to me and I can't stand unexpected sales calls, so I just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.
