Got a dodgy text claiming to be from HSBC saying I need to log in to stop a new payee being added to my account. Problem is, I don’t even hold an account with HSBC. Totally a scam!

Just got a dodgy text saying it was from HSBC, telling me to click a link to sign in to online banking. It was trying to trick people into giving away their login info. The message said something like: "On 22/01, a new payee was set up from a different device. If you didn't do this, log in safely here [#]assist-mypayee[###]/hsbc and stop it now." Definitely a scam to steal bank details, watch out!
