I got a message saying a new payee was added, which seemed off. I checked my bank account and all my money was still there, so I hadn’t actually added anyone new. The message had a link, so I started typing in my password but then paused. Then I remembered HSBC would normally call or text me directly if something suspicious happened. I looked online and found out it was a scam. The text came through on 11.9.20 and I’ll be calling my bank later to make sure everything’s alright.

Over the past few days, I've been getting loads of texts from various numbers claiming to be from places like HSBC, PayPal, or Halifax. None of them actually use my name, which makes them seem pretty suspicious right off the bat. I’d advise not to tap any links on emails or texts, no matter how real they might seem. Always best to stay cautious!

Just got a message from HSBC about a new device adding a payee, with a link included. I barely use my HSBC account and have never done any online banking with it, so something felt off. Didn’t click on anything, just ignored it.
