This was definitely a scam. I don’t have an HSBC account, so it’s clear it was sent out to loads of people. I know a few others got the same message. Never, ever click any links in texts like this.

Got a text saying it was from the HSBC security peeps, saying they were holding back a payment of £489. They wanted me to click on a link but I just ignored it. Pretty sure it was a scam.

Got a text from someone claiming to be HSBC, saying their security team blocked a payment close to £500 and to follow a link. I do have an HSBC account but there's only about ten quid in there! Sounded dodgy to me!

we dont hold an account with hsbc, so i knew straight away it was a scam. but really, even if you do bank with hsbc, you should never tap on any links in texts like these. better to just visit the official hsbc website directly and see whats going on there.
