I keep getting texts from 07311 803601 claiming they're an escort service, even though I've never used one or got in touch with them. They're threatening me, saying I owe money and that they'll hurt me if I don't pay up. Best just to block them and don’t reply.

This has got to be a phishing attempt or scam. I received a message from this number saying it was Evri saying they couldn’t deliver a parcel and wanted me to click a link to reschedule. I wasn’t expecting any parcels and knew something was fishy, so I blocked the number straight away without clicking. Evri normally texts me from a completely different number, so this looked fake to me.

Got some texts from 0731082780 and 07310827505 claiming to be from Natwest and HSBC. Definitely a scam because I don’t have accounts with either bank. They were asking me to click on a link, which seemed dodgy to me.

I quickly deleted the message that told me to log in through the link. What’s really got me puzzled is how on earth they got hold of my phone number in the first place. This isn't the first time either, it happened just after I made a payment through PayPal, but maybe that’s just chance. I've never used my mobile for any sort of payments or credit card stuff, especially not with PayPal. Is it just a coincidence or is there something I should be concerned about?

I received a message asking me to log into Paypal through a link they provided. I double-checked with Paypal directly and found out it was a scam.

I got a call from 07311834280 telling me I was owed a tax refund from HMRC. They asked for my bank info and then managed to hack into my account by using all the details I gave them. It all looked really convincing, with forms to fill in and everything! Honestly, these scammers are so slick at what they do.

If you get dodgy texts or calls trying to scam you, it’s best to let the police know and also report it to the NFIB through Action Fraud. Just search for ‘Action Fraud’ on Google, go to the site ending in ‘police.uk’, find the option to report something, and choose to report it as a phishing scam. You don’t have to sign up or create an account. They do ask for a screenshot of the scam message, so be ready to upload that when filling out their form.
