So I got this text claiming to be from HMRC-GOVUK saying I’m due a refund from a "reoccuring" tax rebate - which seemed dodgy right away. It included a link to ‘claim my money’. DO NOT tap that link. First off, this isn’t a legit government website. Second, the sender's spelling was terrible. And if you do click it (which I didn’t), I’m pretty sure it asks for your bank info. If HMRC actually owe you cash, they will send a letter showing your National Insurance number. They would never notify you about a refund through a text message!
