These scammers around Chandigarh Mohali pretend you owe loads to HMRC. I just told them how much I'd charge for a night with their mum or sister, and they hung up quick enough. I even rang back once, and the guy admitted scamming folks in the UK was his hobby, no shame at all.

Got a couple of voicemails from these guys saying I was caught up in tax fraud or something. Just blocked their number straight away.

Got a call from this number out of nowhere telling me I was about to be arrested for dodging tax. I told them I hadn’t got any letters about it, and the only post I’d got from HMRC was about a tax refund. I then said I’d ring HMRC myself to sort it out, and that’s when they just ended the call.

Got a missed call from this number on my work phone, so I rang them straight back. They started with all sorts of threats, saying my house and belongings would be seized, and that police would turn up anytime soon. The whole spiel was pretty intense. They sounded quite legitimate too - mentioned a case number, gave an officer’s badge number, and even an HMRC address. The people on the line spoke with a light Indian accent and the call quality was surprisingly clear, which made it feel quite genuine. When I cottoned on to the fact it was a scam, I asked how I could settle the matter without going to court. They then moved me through to their “accounting” team to handle a bill, nearly £4000! After that, I just ended the call. Haven’t heard from them since.

I got a call from 07310270987 and there was a recorded message claiming it was HMRC saying I was being sued for tax evasion and to call them back. I work full time and my taxes are sorted through my job, so it sounded fishy to me.

It really reminded me of that doctor from All Creatures Great and Small, like the Time Lord himself. He kept saying I should ring him back, but I told him sorry, I haven’t got a TARDIS to zoom around in. If you’re reading this, did you know Amy Pond turned up in Jumanji or something? Anyway, it’s just a scam, some machine robocalling. Best not to bother calling back.
