I received a dodgy message from this number, masquerading as my bank and attempting to pull a phishing stunt. Whatever you do, steer clear of responding or clicking on any links provided!

I got a text from 07308686404 pretending to be from HSBC about a new payee being added. I’m not even a customer there, so it’s clearly a scam.

Someone just rang me claiming to be from HSBC, which is odd as I don’t use their banking services. They sent me a link too, but it didn’t look like anything official from HSBC’s website at all. Totally dodgy, wouldn’t trust it one bit.

Got a text earlier from HSBC about a Mrs K Adams being added as a new payee. Thing is, I don’t even bank with HSBC. The number that messaged me was 07308686404. Bit fishy if you ask me!

Got a message from HSBC saying a new payee, Mrs K Adams, was added on 30/04/20. It asked if I didn’t do it to log in and cancel the payee, with a link for security and alerts. Pretty sure it wasnt me though.

Watch out, this is definitely a phishing scam! Got a text saying something like ‘Nationwide: new payee added R Davies on 29/04/20. If this wasn’t you, please log in and cancel the request at nationwide[###] request-for-new-payee[###].’ Don’t click that link, it’s dodgy!

This morning my partner got a message from the same number, it had a link saying something about confirming a new payee for Nationwide.

Got a call asking to confirm a new payee, sounded totally dodgy to me. Definitely a scam, best to just block and delete it straight away.

Got a message saying “new payee added” but I’m pretty sure I don’t even have an HSBC account! Tried ringing their fraud team but no luck, the line’s always engaged. Bit worrying really.
