I got a call with a robotic voice saying someone’s been using my NI number and that they were going to freeze all my accounts! Proper worried me for a bit.

I got the exact same text on the 6th of April about a new payee, this Mr C Jones supposedly being added to my HSBC account. Thing is, I’ve never had an HSBC account in my life! Honestly, these idiots deserve a proper punishment. Really wish there was some way to track these scammers down!

Definately think this number needs to be reported to the police. Just search for 'action fraud' and click on the 'police.uk' website. From there, head over to the 'report' section and file it as a phishing scam. You don't even have to sign up or make an account to do it. Honestly, it takes a bit longer than just posting here, but it’s far more effective.

Got a message saying someone named Mr C Jones added me as a new payee for an HSBC account. Problem is, I don’t even have an HSBC account! A few hours earlier, I got a similar text but from a different number. Definitely looks like some kinda scam, so I just deleted it straight away.

My wife got a text from the number +447307083668 claiming to be from HSBC, saying there was a new payee request for Mr C Jones on her account via the HSBC mobile banking app. It looked quite dodgy, especially since it told her to visit some weird link for security reasons (something like (#]security hsbc. verifypayee(###}). When I tried calling the number back, it just rang through to voicemail with a recorded message that didn’t say anything about HSBC. It went straight to voicemail every time I called. I left a message anyway, but it’s obviously a scam. Wouldn’t trust it one bit.
