Received a call yesterday around half six in the evening. They claimed to be from Windows, insisting there was a virus on my computer. I wasn't having any of it, so I politely declined and ended the call.

Still, no one bothered to respond and they just ended the call. We receive a fair few of these types of calls, but this is the first instance where I've bothered to look up the number and report it. I tend to rely on my voicemail system; if the caller's intentions are sincere, they'll likely leave a proper message. Otherwise, they’ll need to cover the cost of their call. Plus, I can always look up the number afterwards to determine if it's dodgy or not.

Got a call claiming there was a fraud issue on my PC and to press 1. I pressed it just to mess about since I don’t own a computer anyway. Then some bloke with an Indian accent popped up, trying to imitate a Welsh accent! As soon as I said I didn’t have a computer, he just ended the call. Proper laugh that was!

I keep receiving calls from this number for three consecutive days now, each time claiming there's some sort of fraud case against me. They prompt me to press one to talk to a police officer, which I found quite alarming. On the third call, I really started to wonder if it was genuine. I'd expect any real communication from the police to be more formal, whether it's a face-to-face visit, a letter, or at the very least, an actual person's voice on the line, not just an automated message. Feels a bit fishy if you ask me!

I got one of those messages too, kicked off with "Dear Citizen" (a bit Orwellian, no?). The voice on the recording was so choppy, it honestly sounded like some dodgy attempt at a police announcement. When will the officials actually step up and tackle these annoying calls? I'm seriously considering cancelling our landline altogether. I've had enough of all these scams and nuisance calls.

Got two calls from this number today, both times an automated voice claiming to be HMRC. The recording was pretty dodgy and kept going on about a warrant being issued if I didn’t press 1 to speak to a caseworker. Honestly, these scams are really scary, hope they find a way to put an end to them soon.

Like loads of others, these so-called fraud officers keep ringing but I never pick up. I just let it ring out and go to voicemail, where I’ve left a warning that if they call two or more times without leaving a message, I'll block the number. If your phone lets you set this up, I’d definitely recommend doing it and don’t ever answer calls from numbers you don’t know.

Somebody rang but the recorded message was so muffled I couldn’t tell who it was straight away. They kept talking about fraud and said to hit 1 if I wanted to chat with a case officer. If they had just used a real person and called me by my name, I might have answered. hearing a recorded voice start with "Dear Citizen ." immediately made me suspicious. obviously, it’s a poorly thought-out trick from someone who doesn’t really get British customs. We’re not “citizens” here, remember? We’re subjects of the Queen (or King)! like others have mentioned, the call ends with a prompt to "Press 1". just a heads up, don’t press it. no telling what might happen if you do, but at the very least, you let them know your number’s active and someone answered. basically, you’re on their radar now and’ll likely get more calls.
