Got a call from a strange number with weird first three digits on my mobile, so I just ignored it. Later, a woman left a voicemail saying she was from HMRC and that they were looking into my finances, warning me there’d be legal trouble if I didn’t ring back. They never used my name or anything. It’s clearly a scam, but I can imagine how older folks could get really scared if they got a call or message like that.
