The caller pretended to be from Microsoft, claiming they had received faulty reports from my computer and were eager to assist me in eradicating a multitude of corrupt files said to be infiltrating my PC. Not one to be easily fooled, I decided to play along, mentioning that we have several machines in the house. When I asked him which version of Windows he was referring to, he mentioned Windows 7 and Vista. I took the opportunity to inform him that none of my devices run those systems, at which point he hastily disconnected the call. Quite suspect, I must say! To top it off, we're ex-directory, which makes it all the more alarming. The chap on the other end had a noticeable Indian accent. I strongly advise caution; don’t fall prey to such scams. Always probe for specifics regarding the so-called assistance they’re offering. If they can't provide concrete details about error reports, you can bet it’s a scam. Moreover, remember that "Microsoft" will never reach out to you unsolicited for support; that’s your first red flag.
