Got a robotic call saying it was from the tax department. Totally sounded fake.

Total scam, don’t fall for it!

Got a call on my home phone even though I'm on the TPS list, doesn't seem to stop them. The caller, a lady named Mary Lee, who sounded like she might be from East Asia, claimed there was an issue with my internet. I told her everything was fine and ended the call. The number showed up as coming from abroad on my caller ID. I reported it on both the BT website and to Action Fraud. They keep ringing me up nearly every day, sometimes twice!

Got a call a bit after 8.09 in the morning but let it go to voicemail as I wasn’t sure who it was. No message was left though. I looked up the number here and honestly, I’m relieved I didn’t pick up after seeing what others said about it.

I usually ignore calls like this, and after reading what people found out about them here, I'm really happy I did.

I chose not to pick up the phone as I didn’t have a clue who was calling, despite it ringing incessantly. Now, having perused the remarks regarding that number, I’m rather relieved I let it go to voicemail.

Got a call earlier today from someone claiming to be with BT, saying my internet was glitching because of my computer’s system. I played along for a bit while they asked me to open some stuff on the laptop. When I questioned how they even knew it was my device, they mumbled something about checking internet errors to find the problem. I didn’t buy it and told them I’d pass, then ended the call.

Didn’t pick up when it called twice within 5 mins. The first call looked like it was foreign, had an extra zero before the number.

It's a total scam, sounds like those dodgy call centres in India. Whatever they tell you to download, just don't do it. Also, BT wouldn’t be ringing you up from a mobile number, so stay clear!

I got a call from an Asian guy claiming to be from BT. He asked me to log into my computer and install some program. I played along for nearly 10 minutes before telling him I actually work in software (which I do). Then he just snapped, said something like "if you're a f***ing software engineer, f*** off," and hung up. This is clearly a scam to swipe your bank details. They make you download stuff that hides their access to your account. A mate of mine got hit for thousands doing this exact thing.

My father in law keeps getting calls from a bloke claiming he's from BT and says he’s got control over his Virgin Media account. Told him to just tell the guy to shove off if he rings again!

I frequently encounter this caller who greets me, yet there's just silence after that. It's typically a voice with an Asian accent rambling on about issues with the internet. We just sit there in silence, not saying a word. Today, there were some distant voices in the background, but then the line just cut off.

Absolutely infuriating! This relentless caller has rang me thrice on the trot. Just received another call from them, and I've had quite enough! It’s particularly bothersome for the elderly or those with disabilities, who find such interruptions highly distressing.

Got a call from a dodgy number pretending to be BT, as usual Monday’s when they’re really busy pestering folks. Before the guy could even get into his spiel, I cut him off by saying thanks for thinking of me and wished him a lovely day ahead. The bloke then swore at me and hung up. Sorted!

Had a bloke on the phone with a thick Indian accent, claiming he was from BT’s tech team - weirdly, he was ringing from a mobile. He kept repeating he was with BT, like he was testing if I really worked there. I just ended the call. No follow-up calls so far.

I’ve had this number call me three times one after the other. The second call I told them I’m deaf and that they should call 999 instead. The third time I just told them to buzz off and stop bothering elderly and disabled folks. Didn’t seem to faze them at all. BT really ought to feel bad for letting these scammers keep pestering pensioners like this. They kept insisting I’m some kind of internet expert with a problem! As someone who actually works in IT, even we can’t seem to block these awful con artists.

Yet another call from an Indian con artist claiming to represent BT, but their grasp of English was rather poor, to say the least. I decided to tell him to take a hike, if you catch my drift. Seriously, is there anyone left who isn’t clued up about these blatant scams?

Got a call today at about 2pm from a bloke with a South Asian accent, said he was from BT and that my internet was unsafe or somethin. Problem is, I’m not even a BT customer! I told him off and put the phone down, but he called me right back asking why I ended the call. I hung up once more and he called yet again, really would not give up. Pretty sure it’s a scam.

Got a call from this number at about 10.43 this morning. I didn’t pick up, the answerphone picked up instead (I use it to keep telemarketers away). Had to hang up on this annoying caller who kept going on about my internet being hacked or something dodgy like that. They called back a couple of times trying to scare me into paying for some fake broadband fix and wanted me to log into my computer - no chance! I’ve just blocked the number now. This number has called me a few times pretending to be from BT, but I don’t have any dealings with them. I just brushed them off quickly. Now they’re calling and hanging up after just one ring, probably trying to trick people who might not be so wary. Definitely seems like a scam to me.

Got a call on my landline today at 7:57am, which is a bit odd cause normally only my elderly folks ring me there. I was a bit rattled since it was so early. The bloke on the other end had an Indian accent and claimed he was from BT or something like that. I asked him if he realised the time and told him it wasn’t right to be ringing people so early. He just kept repeating “it’s ok, it’s ok,” but I wasn’t having any of it. I told him he was talking nonsense and gave him a stern telling off just before he hung up on me.
