The number shows up as INTERNATIONAL, and honestly, a call like that just has "sales pitch" written all over it, doesn’t it? I tend to give it a wide berth, but it’s definitely off-putting.

I got a call from some guy, Charlie or something, pretending to be from BT Openreach. Proper dodgy fella trying to get access to my computer by saying he wanted to fix some errors showing up. When I asked if he could help stop those scam calls, he just started getting rude. Well, that’s that then!

This was a pretty slick scam. Just before I got the call, my internet went down for about a minute, which is suspicious in itself. Not entirely sure how they manage that. Luckily my son-in-law answered it - he works for BT and spotted it was dodgy straight away, so the person couldn’t get past the security questions. If these scammers really are messing with the signal to make the call seem legit, that’s pretty twisted. Also, just have a close look at their phone number - the sequence of digits is a dead giveaway it’s not genuine.

I've tried ringing back a couple of times but no one picks up, so I've marked it as a scam on my list.

Got a call from this number earlier, but as soon as I picked up, the line cut off. I just rang 1572 to block them via BT Call Protect. You’ve got to subscribe to it, but honestly, it’s really useful. Before using it, we used to get a bunch of calls every week, but now they're pretty rare. It’s great being able to block annoying numbers like this!

My nan got a call from someone saying they were with BT and that our internet was at risk because some bloke from Nigeria was trying to hack it. He asked loads of questions to get info, but luckily, she hadn't the foggiest and handed the phone straight to me. It was pretty close to tricking her since she’d just been speaking to the real BT earlier!

Got two calls earlier, and neither time did anyone say a word. These annoying calls are driving me mad. I’ve switched my landline to silent now and plan to just keep ignoring any calls that come through.

I got a call from a person claiming to be from BT openreach, saying my internet got hacked and they needed to get into my computer to fix it. When I said I don't even use BT, they just hung up on me.

They just won't stop ringing me. They claim there's a problem with your BT Broadband (odd since I use Virgin Media), saying it's been compromised. They want you to run commands on your computer, which unsurprisingly triggers errors in the event viewer - nothing unusual really. After that, they offer to fix it and put you on hold while they "pass you to a manager." This so-called manager then confirms all your details and asks for your credit card info to "verify your identity." That's when I just ended the call. :-)

I got a call from someone claiming to be Charlie at BT OPENREACH, saying my broadband was hacked. They told me to switch on my laptop and tablet. When I explained I’d done nothing, they asked how I even use my internet then? After I kept explaining, they ended up hanging up on me, kind of accusing me of lying. It was a bit of an awkward chat.
