Received a rather peculiar email in response to my ad about selling a car. They mentioned that they reside in Scotland and provided this number for further communication. We're a bit apprehensive regarding the authenticity of the caller. Cheers, Lavinia.

I've fallen victim to a dodgy character. This individual proposed sending a cheque for £4,000 while the car we had on offer was only worth £1,450. Just like others who have been scammed, she insisted we remove the advertisement and offered an extra £50 for our trouble, claiming the remainder had to go to her courier. It was only through a bit of digging by my brother, searching her number online, that we realised something was amiss. She has numerous aliases, but introduced herself as Mr David Williams. So, please tread carefully, everyone!

I received an email from someone claiming they were keen to pay the full asking price for my car. They mentioned they were based in Switzerland and that their wife had her eye on a vehicle just like mine. Thankfully, my son-in-law advised me to look into the email, and I uncovered the reality of the situation. Please, do exercise caution with this sort of thing!

I've listed my car on Auto Trader and received an email from someone calling themselves Paul Large. I've got a sneaky feeling this chap might be up to no good. When I did a bit of digging on his name, it turns out it’s all a bit dodgy. His email is [email protected], and he’s keen to pay via a banker’s draft. A quick search shows he’s been sending out the same message to a whole host of others too. Whatever happened to just dealing with decent folk when selling a motor? It’s all a bit frustrating!

I encountered a situation that mirrored yours quite closely when I responded to a personal advertisement on Autotrader. It was strikingly the same name, number, and even the phrasing was a perfect match. We sent a reply that gently nudged her to reconsider the contents of her ad! But as of now, there’s been no response.

Received a remarkably similar email concerning a car I’ve listed on Friday Ad. Same old nonsense about shipping and the cheeky request for an extra £50 to hold it. It’s beyond ridiculous trying to purchase a vehicle sight unseen, and the phrasing in the email is just as dodgy. The only variation was that she called herself David Tom and used the email: [email protected]. The phone number matched too. It’s surely a massive scam! Stay vigilant and steer clear! Cheers!

It appears that this individual is operating under the alias Derick Ponger. She claimed she was parting with two African grey parrots because her partner has sadly passed away and she's relocating to Aberdeen for work. However, she’s asking for £400 for delivery and paperwork alterations. A huge thank you to this website as it’s ensured she won’t be pocketing a single penny from us. Absolute charlatan!

I just received a rather dubious email that is completely the same as the one you mentioned, only this time it swaps out David Williams for David Bruce! It absolutely reeks of something untoward, and it has all the hallmarks of money laundering, if you ask me. Quite troubling, to say the least!

We recently received a rather puzzling email concerning the vehicle we advertised on Friday. It’s exactly the same drivel regarding the truck and a car that supposedly has an additional 50. However, this seems to be an unintentional editorial oversight. The sole distinction was that the person referred to themselves as David instead of Tom, and the email address used was [email protected]. The phone number remained unchanged. It’s definitely a massive scam! Stay vigilant and steer clear! Cheers!

I received a rather peculiar email in response to my ad for selling a car. The sender claimed to be from Scotland and provided this contact number. I'm feeling a bit uneasy about the authenticity of the caller. Any thoughts? Cheers, Lavinia.

I recently had a rather peculiar experience with the number 07024083241. They reached out, claiming to be interested in purchasing a vehicle listed for £850. They mentioned something about the Friday Ad and were quite keen on having us remove the ad while offering extra cash for the trouble. Shortly after, they followed up with an email requesting our personal details. Curious, we decided to contact Beeding Rectory, where the genuine Reverend Ken James is based - who, I can assure you, is definitely English. However, the person on the line from the 07024083241 number was decidedly not! When I shared my concerns about the situation, the call abruptly ended. It certainly raised a few red flags for me. Just a heads-up to everyone: stay vigilant!
