Received the same call just now around 5 in the evening. A woman on the line said, “Hello Teri, this is a call from 02 Business. I wanted to see if you’ve managed to acquire a new handset from us and to inform you about any discounts you might be eligible for.” We replied simply, “We have everything we require, thank you very much. Goodbye!”

We just received a call from this number as well, with the callers claiming to represent O2. It felt quite suspect given the unusual number and the fact that the person on the line had a distinctly Indian accent (we believe O2 operates out of Scotland). Received a call from this number on my mobile, claiming to be from our phone provider. They kept fishing for information that they should already possess. The woman had a rather odd accent and insisted she was calling on behalf of the mobile company, but there were several details she asked about that she ought to have known. I recently received a phone call from Excel Communications, who alerted me that a certain company is acquiring information through an "overseas" source. Apparently, they make the first call to collect data, which they subsequently sell on. The representative from Excel I spoke with was quite impressive and promptly acknowledged our refusal to engage. I also mentioned to them that this lot claimed to be affiliated with Orange, to which Excel responded they would lodge a formal complaint with their provider. Ultimately, it appears to be nothing more than a pesky sales pitch!
