A company that claims to be associated with Sky got in touch, saying they were handling insurance coverage for a firm that has since gone bust. They insisted on establishing a direct debit, but we turned down their offer as Sky's warranty is still active. Not long after, they rang again asking our elderly father to confirm her Visa details. She inadvertently did, and they tried to withdraw funds from her account. Luckily, she mistyped a number, which caused the transaction to fail. We've since taken the precaution of cancelling her card.

There’s a company claiming to be associated with Sky, and they were insisting that my family members were discussing insurance policies with a firm that has gone belly up. They were pushing hard to arrange a direct debit, but we weren’t having any of it. Sky remains under warranty, after all. Then, out of the blue, they rang again, asking our elderly father to confirm her Visa number. She did, but thankfully she got the last digit wrong, which thwarted their attempt to withdraw money. We’ve since cancelled her card to be on the safe side.
