Loads of people keep saying it's NatWest, but none of us actually have an account with them. We recently switched our phone number because of the whole TalkTalk mess, and it's meant to be ex-directory anyway.

Today, I found myself needing to speak with Nat West Fraud, and I must say, I was quite impressed with the service I received. However, later in the day, I received a call from a 05600 number. It seems this is a survey line associated with Nat West. To be honest, I'm rather uncomfortable with that, as similar numbers are often used by all sorts of dodgy scam callers. They really ought to reconsider this approach.

Got a call from a number I didn’t recognise, not one of the usual UK landlines, so I just let it ring out. Came here to see who it was, turns out it was NatWest’s anti-fraud team - I’d just been on the phone with them! They really ought to use a proper UK number, like an 0800 or a standard landline, so people know it’s legit straight away.

It's rather puzzling why NatWest doesn't use a regular phone number when there's a veritable plague of fraudsters and pesky sales calls bombarding the public. If they did, at least folks might think there’s a chance the call is legitimate. I got a call from this particular number, and honestly, it seemed like something dodgy from Nigeria, so I promptly hung up. Ironically, I’d just been in touch with NatWest a short while before, questioning them about my blocked card. How was I to predict they’d attempt to reach out? Clearly, I missed that call. At this rate, they might just decide to block my card again! But really, who even cares?

I'm quite relieved that the call from 056 0036 3906 was actually from Natwest about a fraud survey, not some annoying National Accident Helpline like I've been getting loads of calls from recently. Oh, it’s the NatWest fraud squad, is it? That explains it! They’d barred my card recently, but I managed to get it resolved promptly and without any hassle.
