Then, not long after, I got a call from a 0201 number which is well known as a scam number here. About a minute after ignoring that one, I had a call back from 05487. I’m pretty sure both calls were connected, and I honestly wish something more was done to stop these scammers. We pay a fortune for our landlines, but the phone company seems to do nothing to block these annoying calls!

Ever since I switched my phone provider from BT to Plusnet about 10 days back, ive been getting loads of silent calls from this same number, plus loads of calls from Indian call centres and accidental dialings. Being 76, it’s quite unsettling, and I can’t figure out why the providers dont block these calls despite all the complaints they must get.

Got a call from this number earlier on, they wanted to know if I had a washing machine. Since I’m renting and the landlord provides the appliances, I explained that to the guy who sounded Asian and then ended the call. Had a similar call from a different area code last week, so it felt a bit dodgy. Not sure if it’s a scam, but thought I’d mention it in case anyone else gets something like this.
